

“Just having to think that quickly and on my toes, just going back to how I would feel if we reversed roles and how I would someone to talk with me,” she said. She said it was this experience that she often comes back to when she experiences challenges in the classroom. Warenski shared a poignant moment from her first year in the classroom when she helped a student with special needs experiencing distress to de-escalate.

“Coming to work each day and knowing that I’m coming to a family of people who care about me outside of my home and want what’s best for me and want what’s best for my students.”

I know that they’re doing what’s best for students in the very best ways that they can,” she said. What has kept Warenski coming back to teach every fall for the past 17 years is her faith in both Nebo School District and in the teaching profession. … Prioritize what really matters, and then it feels like everything else can come together. “You don’t have to have the Instagram classroom for it to be a good thing. Now a mentor to other educators, she is chock full of advice for teachers just starting out in the classroom. Warenski didn’t start out as a teacher after college however, the energy of the students and the classroom eventually drew her in.
